Shmulik Paints the Town is a book about the Jewish Independence Day. I met the author at an event a few weeks ago. (Bridget note: she is a fan of mine!) At the event, she read her book and it was fun.
Shmulik doesn’t paint the town, his dog does. (Bridget note: Lisa Rose says Shmulik is Hebrew for Sam) People think Shmulik did the painting. No one believes his dog did it. There is a lot of silliness because Shmulik can’t figure out what he wants to paint, so his dog paints when he is inspired.
I liked that there is possibility in everything. There is inspiration all around. I really liked the artwork and the colorfulness of them. I also liked learning about the Jewish Independence Day. My new hometown has a very large Jewish population so I want to learn more about what they celebrate.
I recommend this book to people like Shmulik – people who need inspiration. If you are Jewish or curious about their holidays, this would be a good book to read.
Come back tomorrow to meet Lisa Rose!
