I went to Book Beat looking for a book on Claudette Colvin. She refused to give up her seat on a bus nine months before Rosa Parks. They didn’t have any books on her, so suggestions welcome. They did recommend this book and I am glad they did.
Each chapter is about a different woman who changed the world. Yea, I have been reading a lot of books like this lately. It is what interests me right now. I want to know about real women who did what they needed to do. Like the Pirate Queen, Grace O’Malley. Other women featured include Misty Copeland, Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Annie Oakley.
I enjoy being able to pick and choose who I read about. I could read any number of chapters at a time and in whatever order I wanted.
I am really encouraged by these women. They changed the world by being themselves and following their dreams. All girls should be exposed to these women.
Other books like this include She Persisted by Chelsea Clinton, Little Leaders by Vashti Harrison and Brazen by Penelope Bagieu
