I am back with another Jasmine Toguchi book. This one is called Mochi Queen. Mochi is a treat made from rice. I want to try it so Mom will find some. In this book, Jasmine wants to help with making the Mochi. Her mother says she is too young to help with it. As expected Jasmine finds a way be helpful and be part of the process.

In Super Sleuth, Jasmine is celebrating Girls Day. My local art museum is also celebrating it today so I went to check it out. They have Hina dolls, pretty fabrics and pottery, mochi display, a ceremonial tea room and even origami. The museum also has a very nice and new Japanese gallery.

I really liked the dolls. In the Japanese Gallery, you can in an interactive computer game like tea ceremony. It was educational and fun.

Jasmine tagged along for the day. I really like these books for introducing me to Japanese culture. My mom and Dad both work for Japanese companies. Mom goes to Japan once a year too but until these books, I didn’t really pay much attention. Now I will.
