I am not mixed but some of my friends are. When I visited our family friends, they shared this book with me. Their family is mixed and their kids love this book. The book is about a brother and a sister who have mixed ancestry. It is about how they can enjoy things from both sides of their family. They are not defined by their “visible” race – they are defined by who they are.

I don’t think skin color defines a person. It is not fair people treat people differently. I didn’t know kids of mixed race had struggles. I am glad my friend shared this book with me. I want to be a better friend to my friends. Maybe it is because I am a kid but I don’t care my best friend is black and I am white. I like her for who she is.

This book would be good for mixed families and people who want to learn more. It would be good for kids in general to remember we are defined by who we are, not what we look like. What we look like just makes a much more interesting picture.
