  • Tell me a little about yourself:

I live in Boise, Idaho with my husband, a zany awesome toddler, a dog named Pippa, and a dog named Spencer. I grew up in the Twin Cities and am a Minnesotan at heart. I have a BS in Psychology from the University of St Thomas and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Minnesota. I currently work in higher education. My first book is Catalina and the King’s Wall which released May 5th from Eifrig Publishing. I also am an avid volunteer. I trail run and mountain bike for fun.

  1. When you were my age, did you like to read? I loved science fiction and fantasy books. I would go to the library and check out dozens of books at a time!
  2. What was your favorite story? When I was your age, my favorite book was “A Wrinkle in Time.”
  3. How do get Your ideas? I get my ideas from real-life events, the world around me, other storybooks, and things my two-year old son loves.
  4. What author do you really like right now? I am really into Jodi Picoult right now. I love a lot of British authors in general.
  5. Do you have any new or lesser known authors or illustrator you would suggest? Yes! I love Sun and Moon by Lindsey Yankey and also Joseph Kuefler who has a few books out.
  6. What advice do you have for a kid who wants to be an author/illustrator? I recommend checking out a handful of picture books from the library each and every week and reading every one to get a sense of style in the writing and illustrations. Work on developing your own personal style that is uniquely you.
  7. As an illustrator/author, do you hear from your readers? What do you like about that? I hear that their children / grandchildren / friend’s child LOVED my book! They even send me picture and videos of their child reading the book. There is no quicker way to put a smile on my face!
