When I was offered a chance to read this new book by Erica, I was very interested even though I do not celebrate Hanukkah. The community I live in has a very large and active Jewish population so it something I am aware of. I am always curious to understand more about the cultures and religions of others.

This is a picture book about the week of Hanukkah. The family has just moved and it just doesn’t feel like Hanukkah. This year nothing feels like it has in the past, so kids will connect with the sense of “this doesn’t feel right”.

As the story progresses, they create new friends, memories and traditions that makes it feel right. It may not be like before but all things change. You can build on past ways with new ones to help bridge it.

I suggest this book especially this year regardless of what you celebrate. Kids will learn about Hanukkah but also about how you can build new traditions.
