It’s my birthday post…

Ok this year has been crazy, and it changed in like, one day! I was going home from school, expecting we’d finish the year, but school got canceled the next day and it turned into the whole rest of the school year!!! It was craaaaaazzzyyyy!!!

Positive changes this year include learning track cycling and fostering kittens! Track cycling is sooooooooooooo fun, and fostering kittens is the best!!!!!! In track, I’ve been having a lot of fun and while fostering kittens, I’ve cuddled so many cute kittens!!!! It’s so fun.

I miss track cycling a lot right now. I can’t wait to get back on the track. Road riding is just not cutting it for me. I had a birthday party planned at my Velodrome for this weekend. That got cancelled which is a bummer.

This year has been realllllllllllly fun, excluding all the stuff going on right now…..

Now I are stuck at home, losing my mind, for who knows how long! It so weird! But at least my birthday cake is epic!Β  It’s Oreo, chocolate, and vanilla froyo, aaaaannnnnddddd, chocolate cake!! It’s delicious!!!!!Β  Bye!!!!!!!!

How my week has been going

Hi! Hope your week has been going well! For me, it’s been pretty cool! I did some crafts, and played a little Roblox. I accidentally left one of my crafts in the rain, but it was a tissue paper butterfly, and the different colors just melted together! It was so pretty!!! My favorite part of my week was going on a bike ride.

I also got an edible arrangement from my grandparents, that was sooooooooooooo delicious, especially the melon in the middle of the pineapple flowers! It was sooooooooooooo juicy and sweet! Bye!! πŸ¦„πŸ§πŸ¦šπŸŒˆπŸ€©πŸ¦©πŸ¦’πŸˆπŸ˜β€οΈπŸ¦„πŸ§πŸ¦šπŸŒˆπŸ€©πŸ¦©πŸ¦’πŸˆπŸ˜β€οΈπŸ¦„πŸ§πŸ¦šπŸŒˆπŸ€©πŸ¦©πŸ¦’πŸˆπŸ˜β€οΈ

Quarantine Day???

At this point does it really matter what day it is? My state is most likely extending the shelter in place timeline and school at school is finished. We found out this week we will finish the year virtually.

At first I thought that was cool but I am in fifth grade. This means I will not see some classmates ever again. We won’t get to do any of the end of elementary stuff. We won’t go on our Chicago field trip. I won’t see my teachers again.

I am super proud that I am finishing elementary without an IEP and we don’t get to celebrate that.

I am not really liking online school. It is hard and boring. My emotions have been all over the place this week. It has been tough.

I did get some reading done this week so I will have reviews next week. I have even started reading e-books.

The weather has been nice so I have gotten outside. I have done some riding but not as much as I should. It is just hard to get into things right now. I am meeting with my therapist virtually each week which is cool.

Next week is spring break so I will have no school work but I also am running out of books! Not sure what I will do…

Day 18

I was very productive yesterday and got through most of my school work. I even have a draft of my essay done.

Next week is school vacation. I shared on twitter how last year I went to the Grand Canyon and across Arizona.

I usually go see my grandparents in Maine, so this is first April, I will be home. Twitter is helping me plan my Home Spring Break. I would love your ideas on a quarantine spring break adventure!

I am kind of surprised by how boring this all is. In books, kids who are in crisis are always doing things or in middle of saving the world. I haven’t read a book yet where you save the world by just doing nothing. Books did not prepare me for this!

I think the lack of activity is what is messing with me the most. I am more extroverted than everyone else in my house and they are getting sick of me and I am getting sick of them.

If you need a good laugh, I recommend checking out Tour de Quarantine. It is daily hilarious mock bike races and as a cyclist, it makes me laugh. I really want the T-shirt and hope cycling groups do hold a Tour de Quarantine when we are all released. Side note: I did finally get around to getting my US Cycling membership. I am an official novice rider!

Mom is working at 5am most mornings and often isn’t done until well after 6pm. She is coordinating her company’s community response which is not as easy as I thought it would be. She also has to track the global and state data and summarize for a daily meeting. She hasn’t said anything about this but I would think it is a hard thing to track daily. She has been quilting a lot which is her stress reliever. She says if she wasn’t working so many long hours on COVID, she would make masks but right now she needs sewing to be not about COVID.

So yea, none of this is what I thought is how I would be helping save the world. I expect a whole new type of apocalypse books for kids after this.

Day 17

Not much new to report. I sleep in. I do school work. I play on the computer. I complain I am bored.

Yesterday I did find out I had overlooked a school assignment. I appreciate what my teachers are doing but the current organization is confusing for a kid like me. It is a little hard to keep track of what I am supposed to be doing each week.

Next week is Spring Break. Last year I went to the Grand Canyon and across Arizona. This year, I will probably go to the back yard.

Over the weekend, I did write a poem I want to share. I call it Meadow Transformed

Not a long, long, time ago,
In a land not far away,
Flowers bloomed high and low,
And breezes made them sway,

Far and near, word got out,
Of a meadow pretty as can be,
Soon you could hear a newsie’s shout,
Of a meadow by the sea,

Soon many flocked the valley,
Bringing many things,
But when they left the meadow of beauty,
they left something unpretty,

Bags floated in the sea,
Bottles covered the flowers,
What once was a meadow so pretty,
Was left without any power,

That my friends is a story,
That just might be true,
So heed my warning,
Recycle your plastic, just do.
